We had a special presentation by each of the team leaders. God laid on my heart the story of Moses when the Israelites were at war with the Amalekites. If Moses kept his hands raised to God they would win the battle. As he would tire and his hands lowered, they would loose. His helpers Aaron and Hur came and held his hands and they won the war. The Christians in Sucre are not fighting the Amalekites but they are at war with Satan. Also these pastors cannot do this ministry all on their own. It was good to see thier church leaders come to support thier pastor in the ministry. Please pray for those who were trained and as they now take the lead in discipling the new believers.

Here are the statistics for the trip:

31 North Americans with 21 translators worked with 96 church leaders in Sucre. Our team was in a very wealthy community, Barrio Judicial. Our meeting was in her home with her family. For close to two hours we talked about the need to have a personal realtionship with Jesus Christ. Her dad and brother wanted to start arguments but we did not oblige. Daisy however showed great interest in what we had to say. On the last day in that community Daisy told me that she was trusting in Jesus alone for her salvation. She indeed is God's trophy of His grace. Please pray for her as she walks alone in her home for the Lord.

Thursday

Today is the day we leave Sucre for Santa Cruz. Tonight we had a victory rally. Several hundred children, youth and adults came. We meet in a gym where they play indoor soccor. The sound was very bad, the children were very noisy but God prevailed.
I was asked to bring a challenge at the close. Hopefully I can post a picture. The pastors were asked to come on stage to accept the decison cards and then the audience was challenged to help the pastor. Today our little eye team went to a new village for the morning. We saw 39 people in 2 hours. As we would finish with them a team was ready to talk to them about the Lord. Almost all of them accepted Christ!
We were able to go back to the new church where we started this afternoon following the eye clinic. This is what I really enjoy. We were able to lead two more to Christ in the judicial barrio and disciple several who were saved earlier. These more affluent people are very hard to reach.
Please pray for me tomorrow night, Wednesday. I was asked by the leaders to preach the final message of the campaign. This takes me out of my comfort zone.
I still don't have a count but believe the number of salvations is in the hundreds and that at least 5 churches will be planted this week. It was an interesting day. First, I have never done an eye clinic. Second, we were challenged because the people in this community spoke three different languages. God provided though. None of our translators could speak the other languages but CHILDREN COULD!!! So we used some little kids. We would speak in English, our translator would speak in Spanish and the kids would repeat to their moms, dads and grandparents in Quechua or Amara. It was a challenge but God prevailed. I am not sure of the count but well over 100 prayed to receive Christ today.

Woodlan is sharing with three precious little 11 year old boys. They were so smart. One boy asked a lot of questions. One queston was "why do Christians think Catholics all go to hell". For a young boy this was indeed a huge question. First of all we explained we did not belive that. After explaining that Jesus was the ONE and ONLY way to heaven, that we are saved by God's grace, not by works and that God loves all people they accepted Christ. Our next goal is to go to their homes and meet their parents. Please pray as we do this that the parents will be receptive.

Sam - the preacher?

Who would have ever thought I would be a preacher? Go figure! Honestly, I am kinda liking it. On Saturday night Pastor Saul asked me to bring a short message to the youth. On Sunday morning our team had the service. Two team members gave their testimonies and I delivered a message. The outcome was having more people helping us in the field. My prayer is that they will continue to come and help us each day.

Sunday in Sucre

The community our team was assigned to is called the Judicial Barrio. In all of my travels with e3, I have NEVER seen houses like this. The pastor told us going there that "rich people need Jesus too". All of the other teams are in very poor areas. Sucre is the jusdicial center for the Bolivian government. Our community is filled with attorneys and judges. They are much harder to reach with the gospel. Please pray for us as we continue to tell the story to those who will listen. So far after two days of ministry, 22 people have accepted Christ. I do not have the numbers from the other teams. On Monday we begin the eye clinics in the poorer areas in the morning and will go back to our site in the afternoons and evenings.

Meet Philip and Trevor

Philip and Trevor are best friends from Plano, Texas. We converged in Miami. Everything went smooth until a few minutes before boarding the plane. The sky blackened, lighting was flashing and thunder booming all around the airport. Long story short, we were 4 hours waiting for the storm to pass. We arrived at 1:30 AM. tired and weary we got a little sleep, got up, had breakfast and got on a new flight to Sucre. All is well.

Friday, July 6 - We arrived in Sucre, had a good lunch, met our translators, pastors and went prayer walking in our communities.
